Stevenson Retires After 43 Years at CUSB Bank
CUSB Bank celebrated the retirement of longtime employee Tammy Stevenson with a retirement open house January 21.
Stevenson started at the Bank in September of 1982 as a Teller and Bookkeeper. She opened new deposit accounts for both personal and business customers and was instrumental in the creation of the Buddy Banker Kid’s Club and the CHS Educational Bank. At the end of her 43 year career she served as Assistant Vice President and Customer Service Manager.
President Mike Drees said, "About the same time that I started at the Bank in 2007, Tammy was promoted to CSR Manager. I could tell right away that Tammy was someone that I could respect and learn from. She had a ton of institutional knowledge, looked out for her employees, had empathy for those customers that needed a little extra help, and truly cared for all of her customers."
Throughout her years at the Bank Tammy loved working with customers and co-workers. A project that she is most proud of include adding six branch locations to the Bank family.
She said, “When I started CUSB had one location. Over my time here I was able to work on each conversion, adding six new locations to our bank family. All of the technology that we have integrated into the Bank has changed and it amazes me how far we’ve come.”
Even though banking has changed there are a few things that remain the same as it was when she first started.
Stevenson said, “CUSB Bank still emphasizes giving back to the community and as Jack Thomson always said, we’re only as strong as the communities that we are fortunate to serve. Additionally, we need to follow the golden rule of treating people as we want to be treated.”
While working at the Bank Tammy volunteered in the community serving on the Spectrum Board, Crestwood Choir Boosters, Crestwood All Sports Booster Club, and the Evans Senior Living Board. She states she is most proud of the work that was done to build a memory support assisted living wing on the Evans campus.
When asked what she’ll miss most about working and banking, Tammy quickly responded, the people!
“I will miss the staff of CUSB, the customers we are fortunate to serve, and the time we spend together. You develop such friendships and even become a family…we really care about each other.”
When asked about her retirement plans, Tammy shared she plans to spend more time with her family (husband, Chuck; three children Lindsay, Katie, and Michael, and their spouses; and nine grandchildren) and friends and hopefully do some more traveling. She will help out with special events at the Bank as well.
Stevenson is excited for the next chapter of retirement and has so many wonderful memories of her time at CUSB Bank. “I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work for the Thomson Family—they are such great people—and am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve our community.”
